Noah's Ark works with many artisan groups in India, bringing social work, skills training, and a fair trade employment. Their goal is to bring remote artisans' crafts to a global market, all while building up each artisans' skill and ensuring safe, fair trade practices and higher pay not found in many oppressive work environments in India. Noah's Ark works with many marginalized groups and strives to fight against child labor, discrimination against women, and unsafe labor practices throughout their region.
After six years of witnessing the struggles or artisans in Moradabad first hand, Samuel Masih established Noah's Art International Exports in 1986 in an effort to raise artisans out of poverty and preserve their livelihood.
Noah's Ark is the first and only Fair Trade certified exporter in Moradabad, India.
The organization has supported artisans and families with fair wages 10-15% higher than local wages, as well as long-term business investment and collaboration, access to resources, skills training, and health and education initiatives for over 25 years. Noah's Ark Handicrafts & Artisan Welfare Society, was created in 2000 to advance the charitable activities of the organization, which now includes clean water, education, healthcare, and building innovations.
