Artisan Made in Ethiopia
Our leather products are crafted from the highest quality Ethiopian leather which is untreated and includes natural variations; this is part of the unique one-of-a-kind character of each product. Untreated leather will naturally wear over time and can be kept looking beautiful with a little regular care.
You can gently wipe down your leather product with a dust cloth to remove dirt and dust. Never use a wet cloth with soap as the soap will damage your leather over time.
To keep your leather soft and free of cracks and wrinkles, you will need to condition it occasionally. Leather is prone to drying and needs a little TLC to keep it fresh. We recommend Chamberlains’ Leather Milk Formula No. 1. If your product needs a bit more cleaning, you want to first use Chamberlain’s Leather Milk Formula No. 2 (yes, this means you would use Formula No. 2 first for cleaning and then follow with Formula No. 1 for conditioning).
Regardless of your product or method, we highly recommend that you always first test in an inconspicuous place. Please also remember that a little product goes a long way.
What about waterproofing? While, in general, this may not be necessary, you know your climate and your habits best. We suggest Chamberlain’s Leather Milk No. 3.
Please note that as a natural product the lighter shades of leather can be prone to color transfer (from dyes such as those used on dark washed jeans).
We recommend stuffing your bag with tissue to hold its form when being stored. Never store your bag in plastic as this can damage the leather. Instead, use an appropriate dust cover, a cotton pillowcase will do the job.
